Aggregate Knowledge Expands Leadership Team With Two Discovery Technology Leaders

Appoints Joe Ghazal as VP Engineering and Tim Vogel as Chief Scientist

San Mateo, CA—May 31, 2007—Aggregate Knowledge, the leader in the new category of Online Discovery, today announced that it has named Joe Ghazal as vice president of engineering and Tim Vogel as chief scientist. The appointment of Ghazal and Vogel will further strengthen Aggregate Knowledge’s discovery technology leadership.

"Aggregate Knowledge Discovery™ technology is purpose-built to scale and meet the demands of the world's most heavily visited websites," said Paul Martino, Aggregate Knowledge CEO and founder. "Tim and Joe are among the brightest technology leaders in the industry. Their talents will be instrumental in advancing the architecture and the mathematics behind how we analyze billions of data points to help millions of people instantly discover the content they love."

As vice president of engineering, Joe Ghazal brings over 13 years experience building and managing engineering organizations to deliver highly scalable, managed services, world-class analytics, and data warehousing software products. Prior to joining Aggregate Knowledge, Ghazal served as vice president of professional services at Motricity where he led multiple engineering teams in developing highly scalable, service-based content delivery platforms for mobile network operators such as Cingular Wireless, as well as global media brands such as MTV and Universal Music. Prior to Motricity, Ghazal served as director of engineering and professional services at Kontiki (acquired by VeriSign) where he led the development of a peer-to-peer client that served as the foundation of a hosted, massively scalable, content delivery platform. While at Broadbase (KANA Software), Ghazal served in software engineering roles to deliver a relational database product optimized for analytics and decision-support. Ghazal began his career at Lotus Development Corporation (acquired by IBM). Joe earned a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from San Jose State University.

In his role as chief scientist, Tim Vogel is responsible for leading Aggregate Knowledge’s discovery science team to further develop mathematical models and derive actionable insights from large behavior-based data sets. Vogel brings deep domain experience with more than 25 years within the data mining and statistical analysis sector. Before joining Aggregate Knowledge, Vogel helped lead the development of the LikeMinds Personalization Server at Macromedia as its analytics architect and later served as senior software engineer after the product's acquisition by IBM. Prior to Macromedia, Vogel was responsible for deriving predictive mathematical models and optimizing consumer marketing and pricing strategies for leading marketing analytics firms such as National Demographics & Lifestyles and Abacus Direct. Earlier in his career, Vogel held data mining and marketing analytics roles while at MCI, Inc. Vogel earned a B.S. in Genetics from the University of Illinois and an M.S. in Statistics from Florida State University.
